10-day Itinerary*:
The tour starts and finish at the train station in Lannion. We can help you with your train ticket and/or for extra days you would like to spend before or after the trip.
Day 1: Welcome to the Island!
We'll meet you at the train station and take a short 13-kilometer drive to Ile Grande. After you've settled into Emma's cozy and tastefully remodeled house, we'll leisurely explore the island's coastline with a walk around the island, allowing you to start getting to know this lovely place.
As night falls, you can look forward to a quiet and peaceful evening on Ile Grande, setting the tone for the rest of your tour getaway.
5 km moderate hike
Night: Ile Grande
Day 2 and 3: The Pink Granite Coast
Prepare to be captivated by the ever-changing beauty of the Pink Granite Coast. The unique charm of these rocks is revealed in different ways depending on the angle, light, and tide. It allows your imagination to roam freely as you engage with these timeless natural wonders.
Over the next two days, we'll immerse ourselves in the beauty of the “sentier des douaniers” coastal path to encover the secrets of the Pink Granit Coast.
Along the way, we will visit the nearby villages and local markets.
There's even a possibility of joining a friendly local English learner group to discuss current events and embrace local traditions. It's all about savoring the simple pleasures and natural beauty of this remarkable place.
8km hikes both days.
Night: Ile Grande
Day 4 and 5 : The Emerald coast
Over the next two days, we'll embark on an adventure along the breathtaking Emerald Coast, where we'll discover the medieval charm of Dinan and the coastal fortress city of St Malo. Fun fact: parts of the novel "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr were written in St Malo.
Our journey will also take us to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mont St Michel. Please note that the specific itinerary may be influenced by the tides, as witnessing the natural spectacle of water advancing around this colossal rock is an unforgettable experience – some say it moves as swiftly as a galloping horse.
3km steep hikes each day (these cities have very steep paths and and lots of stairs).
Nights: Dinan and Ile Grande
Day 6 : Crossing through the center of Brittany to the south coast
We will cross through the heart of Brittany, visiting the contemporary sculpture park of the Vallee des Saints, then heading south to the heart of crepe making, the city of Quimper, with its stunning cathedral (the only one in the world that is not “straight!).
Night: Quimper
Day 7 and 8 : THE west of Brittany: Aber Wrac’h
After visiting the renown and vibrant Breton museum of Quimper, we will head north west.
I am very excited about this new addition to the trip. We will connect with a childhood friend of mine on the rugged coast of the very west part of Brittany: the salvage and beautiful Aber Wrac’h, Weather permitting, we will head to the sea, for a 3h sailing trip to the tallest light house of Europe, the “Phare de l’Ile Vierge”.
We will visit an abalone farm and learn about cooking with seaweeds seafood.
Nights: Aber Wrac’h and Ile Grande
Day 9: Crepe making and Kayak
Depending on the tides, we might go shrimping, hiking or kayaking around the island.
We will stop by local shops for some unique products of the region.
We might prepare our Galette and Crepe batter ahead of time, so that it is ready for dinner.
In the evening, we will practice Galette and Crepe making, just like a pro, learning about delicious pairing.
If there is a Fest-Noz (night dance) that evening, we might practice and then join!
Night: Ile Grande
Day 10: Departure
After a farewell breakfast and a last exchange with the island, we will head to the train station of Lannion.
