ISland hopping*

This moderate hiking trip is a lovely way to experience Brittany at a relaxed pace, through its islands, coastal paths, and small towns. We will walk the beautiful landscapes of Île Grande and Île Renote, and take boat excursions to Île de Batz and Île de Bréhat, each with its own rhythm, light, and charm.

One of the highlights of the journey is Mont Saint-Michel, rising dramatically from the bay with its abbey and winding medieval streets shaped by the tides. Along with visits to Dinan and the Pink Granite Coast, it adds a rich sense of history, beauty, and regional character to the trip.

The trip is also an invitation to enjoy Brittany’s food culture and everyday life. During scallop season, we will savor fresh seafood, local cider, and time in weekly markets, with many opportunities to connect with the flavors, people, and traditions that make this region feel so alive.

Exploring Brittany’s Islands

Brittany’s islands reveal a striking variety of landscapes, from rugged cliffs and hidden coves to sandy inlets and windswept paths shaped by the sea. We will explore on foot both Île Grande and Île Renote, then take boat excursions to Île de Batz and Île de Bréhat. Each island has its own distinct character, offering a different perspective on Brittany’s coastal beauty.

Mont Saint-Michel

Mont Saint-Michel offers one of the most dramatic settings in France, rising from the bay with its remarkable abbey and medieval silhouette. As we wander through its winding cobblestone lanes, we will discover layers of history, architecture, and daily life shaped by the tides. Its unforgettable atmosphere makes it a highlight of the journey and a powerful contrast to Brittany’s smaller islands.

The season of Scallops and Cider

This is the season when Brittany’s scallops are at their best, bringing a special sense of place to the region’s cuisine. Along the way, we will enjoy opportunities to taste fresh seafood paired with local cider, one of Brittany’s most beloved traditions. These flavors offer a delicious connection to the land, the sea, and the people who shape the region’s food culture.

Local Markets and Daily Life

Weekly markets and small towns offer a wonderful window into the rhythms of everyday life in Brittany. We will meet local producers, browse seasonal foods, and experience the warm, grounded atmosphere that defines the region. These moments add depth to the trip, connecting us not only to the landscape but also to the people and traditions that make Brittany unique.
